SPE is very important to us
Murrelektronik is looking forward to the possiblities with Single Pair Ethernet (SPE). As a connection specialist for the electrical installation of machines and systems, Murrelektronik is a powerful partner within a strong network.
This network is driving the technology forward with determination and with a view to future challenges in automation. Jürgen Zeltwanger, Managing Director at Murrelektronik, is convinced of the development: "With SPE, we achieve integrated communication on the basis of Ethernet - from the cloud or the controller via switches to the sensors and actuators. As a connection specialist, this is naturally close to our heart".
Murrelektronik sees the trend that SPE has the potential to become the physical platform for state-of-the-art installation concepts with today's Ethernet-based fieldbus protocols such as PROFINET, Ethernet/IP (and the futures such as OPC UA TSN-FLC). The focus is on the clearly visible cost-benefit factor.
Murrelektronik believes that the two-wire connection via Single Pair Ethernet offers decisive advantages. "The electronic connection in machines and systems is becoming more economical and efficient. By embedding SPE technology in the relevant world of standards and the simultaneous transmission of power and data, this technology has the potential to become the backbone of the Industrial Internet of Things in the future," explains Jürgen Zeltwanger.
